about

Love Tracks emerged on the cusp of the millennium, Irie 2000, when Joss Jaffe was invited by Tim Donlou to an informal recording session in Strawberry Canyon while the two were studying ecosystem theory at UC Berkeley. While walking up the verdant mosswood steps Joss hummed a tune to a bass line. Upon arrival Tim told Joss the chords that were in his head he'd been singing all afternoon: A perfect match! C maj to D min in a lilting groove. A friendship was born that has lasted over a decade and hopefully many more.

Love Tracks was recorded live to four track tape, live mixed with minimal editing. The results are pure magic. The signature sound of Arp 2600, amniotic otherworldy pads, the natural compression of recording fender jazz bass through tape, electric guitar through qtron & delay, and a mix of live percussion create a one of a kind journey. Fasten your seat belt, blast off and feel the love.
